Zachary Cikanek has over a decade of communications experience winning campaigns, raising awareness of key issues, and shaping conversations among policymakers.
Prior to joining FP1, he conducted media relations for America’s largest trade association of oil and natural gas companies, coordinating public affairs and serving as spokesman on major legislative and regulatory priorities. In that role, his work was instrumental in securing passage and enactment of legislation lifting America’s 40-year ban on crude oil exports.
An Illinois native, Zachary began his career on Capitol Hill as an intern for U.S. Senator Peter Fitzgerald. Eventually, he became the chief speechwriter and communications director for U.S. Rep. Judy Biggert. During his eight years in the House, Zachary worked extensively on issues before the Financial Services, Education & the Workforce, and Science, Space, & Technology Committees. These included genetic discrimination, banking regulation, flood insurance, energy research, education, and science funding.
He also directed activities for the House Financial and Economic Literacy Caucus, a bipartisan initiative harnessing support in the non-profit and the financial services sectors to expand consumer understanding of tools for saving and investment.
A graduate of Columbia University in New York City, Zachary resides in Washington, DC.
