Preparing for What’s Ahead

November 15, 2016

Much has been written about last week’s historic election.

As the new political environment begins to take shape, one thing is clear:

Washington is in the midst of an unprecedented transformation that could feature untraditional leaders in government, many of whom are not known quantities. With Republicans now controlling the presidency and both chambers of Congress, decision makers around the country are waking up to the fact that, while the political environment is deeply unsettled, President-elect Trump and Congress will have an opportunity to advance major federal legislation.

Against this backdrop, FP1 Strategies is ready to help your organization prepare for this new phase.

Research

From White House staff to deputy secretaries and commissioners across dozens of agencies and departments, the individuals tapped by President-elect Trump to govern our country will guide policy decisions and enforcement of our laws for the next four years. Traditionally, the individuals under consideration would be known figures, but considering it has been eight years since Republicans have been in the White House and the nature of Trump’s candidacy, it is likely that many of these people will be new to the political process.

That is why it is so important to understand their previous positions and backgrounds in order to gain insight into their motivations, allowing interested parties to anticipate future outcomes. FP1’s research staff can work with your team to identify likely appointees and compile extensive, customized briefing books that provide you with valuable intelligence on the people who will have a role in governing over your organization.  Once you have this insight, a strategy can be developed to make sure your voice is heard during the selection and confirmation process.

New Member Orientation

As we have previously, FP1’s public affairs team is working with some of our clients to execute new member orientation programs designed to introduce new members of the House and Senate to an organization, its history and its legislative priorities. Leveraging our vast network, FP1’s new member programs feature a variety of components – from distributing briefing packets to organizing breakfast briefings and coordinating formal meetings with members and senior staff.

Media Monitoring and Rapid Response

FP1 employs a team of full-time professionals who operate our 24/7 Newsroom and rapid response operation. The team monitors traditional news, TV, radio and social media around the clock for our clients and deliver daily or twice daily media monitoring packages (in addition to real-time “alerts”) that are organized by relevance, priority and platform. Importantly, these media packages are developed and organized by real people in our Newsroom – not by an online system. FP1 partners and senior team leaders use these media packages to make real-time, actionable recommendations that allow our clients to take the lead in shaping stories, spotting trends and driving a narrative.

FP1 is a full-service public affairs firm based in Washington, D.C. Our team features a comprehensive digital practice and award-winning production and creative division.
