FP1 Expands Team With New Texas-Based Partner Steve Munisteri
Former Top White House Official & Texas Republican Party Chair Grows Firm’s Presence
Washington, D.C. – FP1 Strategies LLC (FP1), one of the country’s top Republican campaign consulting firms, today announced the firm’s national footprint is continuing to grow with the addition of former top White House official and former Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas (RPT) Steve Munisteri as the firm’s newest partner. Based in FP1’s new Austin office, Munisteri will help grow FP1’s work across the Lone Star State, and on some of the country’s top campaigns and ballot initiatives. He is currently a senior campaign advisor to U.S. Senator John Cornyn’s re-election campaign, as well as the Texas Senate Republican Caucus.
FP1 is already the home to partners and Cornyn alumni Rob Jesmer and Brian Walsh, who served as executive director and communications director, respectively, of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) reporting directly to then-Chairman and Senator Cornyn, as they helped Senate Republicans add five new seats. The addition of Munisteri to the FP1 team comes as the firm has been expanding its team with top-tier talent and continues to garner national recognition for its work. This includes recently winning a combined 27 Pollies and Reed Awards for its production of top-quality television advertisements and the firm’s cutting-edge digital tactics, making FP1 the most awarded firm in politics in 2019.
“Few people know the Texas business and political landscape better than Steve Munisteri and we are thrilled to have him join the FP1 team. His years of experience working in the White House and as chairman of the Republican Party of Texas will offer immediate value to our clients and help FP1 continue to grow it’s footprint in one of our country’s biggest states. As FP1 continues to expand, our mission remains the same: helping our clients achieve Fifty Plus One on Election Day,” said Rob Jesmer, managing partner at FP1.
Founded in 2011 by Terry Nelson, Danny Diaz and Jon Downs, FP1 now employs more than 80 experienced professionals who provide a full suite of services, including campaign management, video production, digital advertising, media relations, crisis communications and coalition management. FP1 is also now home to the operatives who built the nationally-recognized field programs for the Congressional Leadership Fund and Rob Portman’s trend-setting reelection campaign. The firm offers a full suite of data-driven field programs and opposition research services to statewide campaigns, super PACs, party committees and ballot initiatives.
“I could not be more excited to join the growing team at FP1, which has quickly become one of the country’s top Republican campaign consulting firms. It is increasingly apparent that Texas is now a competitive state, which makes it arguably the most important state politically in the future for the GOP. FP1’s experienced team will be instrumental in ensuring Texas stays Republican, and I look forward to putting my record of experience and electoral success to work for our growing client list,” Steve Munisteri said today.
Munisteri grew up in Houston where he spent most of his professional career, including service as chairman of the Republican Party of Texas from 2010 to 2015. Under Munisteri’s leadership there was an increase of 1,190 Republican elected officials around the state, constituting an increase from 45 percent of all elected offices to 67 percent. The 2014 cycle represents an all-time record regarding the number of Texas Republicans elected, which still stands today. During Munisteri’s term, records were also set for total number of Republican state House and Members of Congress.
Over the past two years, Munisteri has served as White House Deputy Assistant to the President and Principal Director of Office of Public Liaison. He previously served as a senior advisor to the Rand Paul Presidential campaign, as well as a senior adviser to Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus for the 2016 election cycle. Munisteri received a bachelor’s degree and a juris doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin.
FP1’s work has received many of the highest accolades in politics. As noted above, FP1 brought home 27 new awards for our advertising and digital work during the 2018 cycle. Major awards include the Reed Awards for Best Congressional Ad, Best House IE Ad and Overall Best Radio Ad. FP1 also won three Gold Pollies and People’s Choice Pollie for the Best Radio Ad of 2018 for the “Nine Arrests” radio ad, which was produced for the Congressional Leadership Fund. Since the firm’s inception, FP1 has won 73 Pollie Awards and 34 Reed Awards. In previous election cycles, FP1 ads have also received numerous awards, including Ballot Initiative Ad of the Year, Congressional Ad of the Year, Statewide Ad of the Year, Presidential Primary Ad of the Year (in both 2012 and 2016) and Overall Campaign Best in Show (in both 2015 and 2017).
