Cooper Smith joined FP1 Strategies as a Director on the Research team in September of 2018, where he conducts research for the firm’s political and public affairs clients.

Prior to joining FP1, Smith served in various roles in the Trump administration, including as Deputy Associate Director of Appointments at the White House and as Special Policy Advisor to Secretary Ben Carson at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. In these roles, he translated strategic priorities into action plans and execution.

Additionally, Smith has spent time in numerous political campaigns and organizations with a focus on research, policy and Get Out The Vote efforts.

Smith is a graduate of Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Government. He is a native of San Diego, California.
